To clean the glassware I have been using the sink in the galley and we have an autoclave behind the biosafety hood. As far as reference books, I like the idea but the last time we had a bookshelf it wasn't really kept up and became a dumping ground for older underused textbooks. Down the line we might get one but I want to make the area more organized beforehand.

I have the simple distillation set up with just water right now. We may not be able to do much with the distillation apparatus since we have a carbon filter, but I'm pretty sure we can use it for aromatic oils and chemicals that aren't as hazardous 😦

If you take aluminum or steel to your local scrap yard they probably get made into new things. Bags dropped at you local retailer **might** get turned into plastic deck boards. The stuff your local waste stream processor picks up from your neighborhood... goes to the landfill these days. Anything else would just be too expensive to process, and we consumers won't pay for it (and arguably even if we would it is irresponsible ecologically and economically to do so). That's what shipping it to China was always about: cheaper than trying to process here, and we got to feel good about last night's takeout box being tomorrow's iPhone (whether we were lied to or chose to be blind to the fact that wasn't really happening is probably a debate for the ages, and likely a columna columnb thing). Plus, now "plant based"...

Because that actual Q factor was almost certainly <0.01 accounting for all the inefficiencies in the laser pumps and other apparatus.
